Gold Week is back!  A message from the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation....

Preparations for the Gold Week Telethon 2012 are officially underway, and it’s shaping up to be the biggest, brightest and best year yet! Put Monday 11 June (Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday) in your diaries now and remember to tune into the 3rd annual Gold Week Telethon in support of Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, broadcast live all day on Channel Nine, WIN and NBN.

The success of the Gold Week Telethon depends on you. We need your help to make a difference in the lives of hundreds of thousands of seriously ill and injured patients under our care.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand spanking new Gold Week Telethon website! It has a fresh look and is easy to navigate - a one-stop shop for all there is to know about the Telethon. Go to www.goldweek.org.au to register your Gold event, to donate, and to see what else is happening in your area in the lead up to the Big Day on Monday 11 June! You can also read about some of the patients who benefit from your donations, and find inspirational ideas to help you organise your own Gold event!

How is Charlotte now?

You might remember one of our ‘faces’ from last year’s Gold Week Telethon, beautiful little Charlotte. Two year old Charlotte was diagnosed with a massive brain tumour one third the size of her brain. She underwent extensive surgeries as well as lengthy chemotherapy sessions, spending over 17 months at the Hospital.

One year on, Charlotte’s mum Rebecca says she is “an energetic, dynamic, slightly naughty and very spirited” little girl! She attends preschool a couple of days a week, and has even taken up ballet. Her older sister Madeleine is delighted to have her home, and they now share a room.

Watch Charlotte’s amazing journey on our Youtube channel to see how your support of the Gold Week Telethon helps kids like Charlotte recover and grow up to be healthy and happy.
