Thursday 22 October, 2009 – ROUND THREE OF CHEMOTHERAPY

Posted by Peta Long on Friday, October 23, 2009, In : Charlotte Update

I am sorry that there are not going to be any jokes about my flatulence problems (I can’t believe Rod wrote that on the World Wide Web?!) but if you are eating perhaps don’t read this post right now.

There are some days that you are glad come to an end and Thursday was one of those days. We really had to prepare ourselves mentally to go back into hospital and what should have been a straight forward and routine chemo appointment became more and more exhausting as the day progressed. Aft...

Back in SCH unfortunately. 15th Oct, 2009

Regrettably we had to take Charlie back in to hospital yesterday, only two days reprieve at home, due to Charlotte not eating or drinking. Given that she still has toxins from the chemo in her system, if she does not drink it will adversely affect her kidney's as well as the obvious negative effects of dehydration.

It was quite a blow to Beck and I as we were hoping to have at least a week at home, so we were not mentally prepared for a revisit to hospital.

Tuesday 13 October, 2009 – 6 DAYS LATER AND WE ARE HOME!

Posted by Peta Long on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, In : Charlotte Update

She has lost some weight and we are missing our chubs!

We are back in hospital next Thursday (22nd) for bl...

Posted by Peta Long on Thursday, October 8, 2009, In : Charlotte Update

Febrile and with a hideous cough Charlie was still playing with her big sister, however, she was admitted to Emergency yesterday afternoon and was put on a intravenous drip immediately. She is looking somewhat better today but may not be ready for round two of chemo tomorrow. She and Rod are in a lovely and quiet single room up on 3West (respiratory ward) Everyone has been very helpful and despite her predicament she is still giving Rod hell as she tries to climb out of the cot, investigate ...

Tuesday 5 October, 2009 – NEARLY TWO WEEKS AT HOME

Posted by Peta Long on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, In : Charlotte Update

Charlotte has done remarkably well over the past 10 days. Despite a little nausea following chemo she has faired well. However, this week Madeleine has shared her cold and cough with Charlotte who is struggling a little. Rod and I can’t believe her strength. Whilst sporting a nasty cold, cough and mild temperatures she is still playing and quite jovial. The only concern is that she is off her food and for those who know Charlotte that is a big deal!

She had her check-up last Thursday and h...
