Another successful operation down 29/04/10

As bad as it might sound Beck and I were looking forward to today, to get this operation done. The last 3-4 weeks have resulted in a lot of slep deprivation due to Charlie waking up a lot at night screaming and unsettled, seemingly with head aches.

 

Today's operation was successful in that they removed a substantial amount of fluid, Charlotte has woken up well and is quite active and many of the syptoms do not appear to be prevalent. It was difficult for the surgeons to determine the exact...

ROUND 14 and Back Again!

When Rod wrote the last post Charlotte was still in hospital and Rod had gone back on shift. After three consecutive nights in hospital I was told she wasn't going home due to escalating temperatures. Rod came in to relieve me and Charlotte finally came home on the 13th. Needless to say we were very excited as it was her Birthday on the 14th (Wednesday) -2 years old!  So we are half way through the protocol and she made it home to celebrate her special day. 9 months since diagnosis and not any easier

Beck and I had noticed changes in Charlotte for the past 2 weeks, including a tremor in her hand, favoring her left side more, falling over more regularly than normal and waking up through the night very distraught, which is unlike her.

 

I took her in for her next round of chemo on Tuesday and explained our observations to the oncologist prior to starting chemo. He to was concerned and consequently called the neurologist to also make an assessment. All parties were worried, hence an MRI wa...
